A sunny day to celebrate the Queen's birthday. Great for the bike parade, as well as for playing the traditional games.
Decorated bikes 2011; less work as compared to 2010, still a nice looking result :-)
In the parade
Also great weather to drink Oranjebitter. This is the traditional drink on Queen's Day in the Netherlands. It is made by soaking the peel of bitter oranges (Citrus aurantium) in jenever, a strong alcoholic drink sometimes known as gin. The resulting liquid is a bright orange, thick liquor.

New job!
Yesterday, I landed myself a new job. Starting May 16th, I will work as a project leader for FEI, a US company manufacturing electron microscopes. My days of freedom as a stay-at-home mom will be over and I will be a working mother again. It'll be quite a change for me and the rest of the family. I'm looking forward to this new challenge and am confident that Pieter and the girls will manage just fine :-)

Designer talent
Emma and Janne's school has it's 25th anniversary this year. For this occasion, special t-shirts will be made. All kids can send in their design for the t-shirt and the Childrens Council will choose the winning design. Below is Janne's entry.
As you can see below (albeit a bit small), Janne was inspired by the school logo.

Visiting Oma
A few weeks ago, Oma was cleaning her windows (yep, at the age of 80, she still cleans her own windows ... ), when she fell from the step-stool she was using and broke her arm. Her arm is in a cast now and she's staying at a home for the elderly until her arm gets out of the cast and she can take care of herself again (and probably go right back to cleaning her windows!).
We went to see her again today and we enjoyed the glorious weather (as warm as 24°C) during a nice long walk.
Posing with Oma
Climbing like monkeys
Having dinner in Oma's small room at the home for the elderly
